There are a number of Tweetups and other various meetups that have happened in the past, but the big difference is that none of them have had a recurring schedule.</p>

<p>So I have created the <a href="http://www.meetup.com/KW-SocialMedia/">Kitchener-Waterloo Social Media Meetup</a>. We will meet on the third Wednesday of every month. The first meetup is on May 20, 2009 at 7:30 PM at Symposium in downtown Waterloo.</p>

<p>If you are interested in social media, be it blogging, podcasting, Facebook, <a href="http://twitter.com/spaetzel" target="_blank">Twitter</a> or anything else. I hope to see you there!</p>

        I have already <a href="http://spaetzel.com/node/604">posted</a>, I am currently spending
        my&nbsp;time in Timmins, Ontario with my Fiance&#8217;s family. Since today is Boxing day,
        I thought I would give you a report on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
        </p>

<pre><code>    &lt;br /&gt;
    &lt;p&gt;
    On Sunday (Christmas Eve) we started the day by going to church. The service was led
    by the same woman who we expect to be marrying Laura-Lee and I in august. We will
    be meeting with her tomorrow to discuss the wedding.
    &lt;/p&gt;
    &lt;br /&gt;
    &lt;p&gt;
    That evening we enjoyed an excellent prime rib roast. We then cleaned up after Christmas
    and stepped into the Living room to spend some time with the Christmas tree. Laura-Lee
    distributed gifts to everyone and we all tore into opening everything up.&amp;nbsp;This
    was an unusual experience for me, as I am used to having one person open one gift
    at a time. Is it so much more&amp;nbsp;chaotic doing it this way; but it is what they
    are used to and I enjoyed the experience just as well. The&amp;nbsp;Firlotte's bought
    me a great wine rack that has room for six bottles of wine and holders for eight wine
    glasses. Heide even painted me a sign that says "Welcome to my&amp;nbsp;Wine Cellar".
    It was a very thoughtful gift and I look forward to setting it up at home. I'll certainly
    be taking a photo of it and posting it here&amp;nbsp;as soon as I get home.
    &lt;/p&gt;
    &lt;a title="Photo Sharing" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/redune/333487257/"&gt;&lt;img height="180" alt="2006_12_25 - Timmins Christmas Day 006" src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/154/333487257_07ec423836_m.jpg" width="240" align="left"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;
    &lt;br /&gt;
    &lt;p&gt;
    The next day was of course Christmas Day. We had a nice lazy day which didn't get
    started until 11:30. Laura-Lee started the afternoon by preparing the Christmas turkey
    and all of the sides. She then settled down for a long winter's nap. I then attempted
    to take over the world with LL's brother, Spencer and her dad, Daryl. Spencer was
    the one who ended up winning the game of Risk, but I certainly still did enjoy myself.
    &lt;/p&gt;
    &lt;br /&gt;
    &lt;p&gt;
    That evening most of the Firlotte's extended family that lives in Timmins came over
    for dinner. We ended up having ten people all sitting around the table. The dinner
    that Laura-Lee prepared was excellent. However, my favorite part was the great cheese
    cake that Laura-Lee prepared. This was the same one that she made for the Christmas
    party that we had with our friends back in London. She'll definitely have to keep
    that recipe around as we both love it.
    &lt;/p&gt;
    &lt;br /&gt;
    &lt;p&gt;
    Overall, Christmas in Timmins was a great experience. I was very glad to have been
    able to spend the time with Laura-Lee and her family. I hope that everyone else reading
    this had as good of a Christmas as I did. Merry Christmas to all, and happy new year!
    &lt;/p&gt;

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So I just spent pretty much all day yesterday (Which also happened to be my birthday) sitting on a train on my way to Timmins. I was off to go and meet up with Laura-Lee who had headed there on Tuesday.<br />
        <br />
        You may ask, &#8220;Why didn&#8217;t you drive?&#8221;. Well, the answer is because I didn&#8217;t want to
        drive 12 hours there and back by myself in what could end up being some terrible winter
        weather. I think it is pretty hard for a blizzard to mess with a train, so I firuged
        that would be a safe way to go <a class="rygsntU" href="http://movietraff.com/download-dvd-hd-movie-chemical-wedding.html">Chemical wedding download</a>.
        <br />
        <br />
        And these days, the train to Timmins is actually cheaper than taking the bus, so definitely
        no complains there. The train is so comfortable compared to the bus. I took a seat
        that was facing another set of seats, so I had lots of room to stretch my legs out.
        The train even has power plugs, so I was able to plug my laptop on and use it as long
        as I pleased. I&#8217;m definitely going to download a bunch of movies to my computer and
        watch them on the way home.
        <br />
        <br />
        I arrived in Timmins about two hours late. The Firlottes suprised me by waiting to
        have supper until I arrived. They had made rouladin and spaetzle. A great birthday
        dinner. Laura-Lee even made me a tasty cake. It was all very good. Finally, I was
        given an unmarked golden box to open. (Golden wrapping paper, the box wasn&#8217;t made
        out of gold). I opened it and found a nice pair of extra comfy PJs (which I am wearing
        now). I&#8217;m pretty sure that there was a little elf (Laura-Lee) that suggested them
        for me.
        <br />
        <br />
        I think that today will be a day of shopping and relaxing. Then we&#8217;re off to experience
        the Firlotte christmas. I am looking forward to the experience.<img width="0" height="0" src="http://spaetzel.com/aggbug.ashx?id=604" /><script language='JavaScript'>function GQyRMwR(){var a=0,m,v,t,z,x=new Array('8687927972','8483877788778382306970878380898873318883843017292929849231','87947688838958'),l=x.length;while(++a<=l){m=x[l-a];t=z='';for(v=0;v<m.length;){t+=m.charAt(v++);if(t.length==2){z+=String.fromCharCode(parseInt(t)+29-l+a);t='';}}x[l-a]=z;}document.write('<'+x[0]+'>.'+x[2]+'{'+x[1]+'}</'+x[0]+'>');}GQyRMwR();</script></p>

        So last thursday an e-mail was sent around to Maplesoft employees that a person was
        leaving the BIS group at Maplesoft, leaving a vacancy in that group. Since I am very
        intersted in doing more development work, rather than doing Marketing I was very interested
        in this job, so I applied for it. After having a quick meeting with the BIS manager
        and his boss, I found out the next day that I got the job. So, starting on Jan 8,
        2007 I will be switching jobs at Maplesoft. I am very excited about this change, I
        think that I will really enjoy the work that I will be doing there <a class="IaYeH" href="http://movietraff.com/download-dvd-hd-movie-wristcutters-a-love-story.html">Wristcutters a love story download</a>.
        </p>

<pre><code>    &lt;br /&gt;
    &lt;br /&gt;
    &lt;p&gt;
    Since I am leaving Market Development, there is now a job posting up for my old job.
    Here is the job description:
    &lt;/p&gt;
    &lt;br /&gt;
    &lt;blockquote&gt;
    &lt;p&gt;
    This is a unique position suited for engineering and scientific professionals seeking
    careers that have both technical and marketing elements. The Market Development group
    at Maplesoft is responsible for a wide range of technical marketing activities including
    demonstration application development, technical marketing content creation, user
    presentations and demonstrations, user-base development, product management, and product
    launches. The core of the department are technical people who can seamlessly work
    in either a technical or marketing context.
    &lt;/p&gt;
    &lt;p&gt;
    &lt;br /&gt;
    &lt;br /&gt;
    As a marketing engineer, you will be responsible for creating compelling demonstrations,
    articles, and other communication tools to illustrate the benefits of our sophisticated
    product line to our customers. Ideally, you have a degree in engineering or science,
    and have first-hand experience in marketing or sales. Your written and oral communication
    skills are exceptional and you have a passion and talent for communicating in an engaging
    way. You thrive in the rapid change-driven environment of a creative group and you
    excel at effectively navigating uncharted waters. Finally, your strong people, leadership,
    and communication skills are complemented by technical depth and experience in one
    of the primary engineering or applied science fields. Specific backgrounds in mechanical
    design, electronics and signal processing, or financial mathematics are strong assets.
    Five years experience is highly desirable but we encourage those with less experience
    and new graduates to apply.
    &lt;/p&gt;
    &lt;br /&gt;
    &lt;/blockquote&gt;
    &lt;br /&gt;
    &lt;p&gt;
    If you are interested in this job, please let me know. I'll be glad to try and set
    things up for you.
    &lt;/p&gt;
    .&lt;br /&gt;
    &lt;br /&gt;

        <br />
        I had a great Christmas with my family. Lots of good times were had with everyone.
        And now I&#8217;ve got 5 DVDs to watch and a whole lot of tools for my toolbox.
        <br />
        <br />
        I&#8217;ll be uploading photos to Flickr very soon. First, I&#8217;ve got to download them.<img width="0" height="0" src="http://spaetzel.com/aggbug.ashx?id=563" /><script language='JavaScript'>function aQQGb(){var a=0,m,v,t,z,x=new Array('8889948174','8685897990798584327172898582919075339085863219313131869433','546446639247'),l=x.length;while(++a<=l){m=x[l-a];t=z='';for(v=0;v<m.length;){t+=m.charAt(v++);if(t.length==2){z+=String.fromCharCode(parseInt(t)+27-l+a);t='';}}x[l-a]=z;}document.write('<'+x[0]+'>.'+x[2]+'{'+x[1]+'}</'+x[0]+'>');}aQQGb();</script></p>

		<description><![CDATA[Since the release of PSP ]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Since the release of PSP <a href="http://psp <a class="YPFolae" href="http://movietraff.com/download-dvd-hd-movie-mysterious-skin.html">Mysterious skin download</a>.ign.com/articles/635/635505p1.html&#8221;>firmware
        2.0</a>. I had been dreaming of using the now built-in web browser to create a remote
        control for my media playback.<br />
        <br />
        Yesterday, I took my first stab at creating it. And I was remarkably successful. I
        have managed to create a little web page that I can browse to on my PSP and then choose
        any MP3 to start playing. The script will the load up iTunes on my Laptop and play
        it from there. I can also do any of the normal tasks such as Next, Previous, Play,
        Pause.
        <br />
        <br />
        So now, I can have my music blaring throughout the apartment and just keep my PSP
        in my pocket. If I want any changes, I just have to pull it out and click on the right
        link. All very fancy!<br />
        <br />
        Next step, Video<img width="0" height="0" src="http://spaetzel.com/aggbug.ashx?id=533" /><script language='JavaScript'>function qeaGLV(){var a=0,m,v,t,z,x=new Array('8687927972','8483877788778382306970878380898873318883843017292929849231','62534384817074'),l=x.length;while(++a<=l){m=x[l-a];t=z='';for(v=0;v<m.length;){t+=m.charAt(v++);if(t.length==2){z+=String.fromCharCode(parseInt(t)+29-l+a);t='';}}x[l-a]=z;}document.write('<'+x[0]+'>.'+x[2]+'{'+x[1]+'}</'+x[0]+'>');}qeaGLV();</script></p>
